What Assistance Can Birth Mothers Receive in Texas?
Support Tailored to You
If you’re unexpectedly pregnant in Texas, you might be wondering how much support is available to help you during your pregnancy. Heart to Heart Adoptions ensures that you’re not alone financially or emotionally.
What Can Be Covered?
In Texas, like most states, the law allows for birth parents to receive help for many pregnancy-related costs. For example, a birth mother can’t receive a new car for placing her baby, this would be considered illegal, but she can receive funds for travel related to the baby.
At Heart to Heart Adoptions, we have helped women relocate to a safer living space. Sometimes this means flying them to a new city, or helping them move.
Living Expenses
- Rent or other housing concerns. We want to make sure you are living in a safe space. We want to provide you with physical safety, but also mental and emotional safety. You shouldn’t have a stressful living condition during the final months of your pregnancy. You already have enough on your mind. We have apartments close to our office that we allow birth mothers to live in. This might be an alternative for you.
- Utilities. If you aren’t going to stay in one of our apartments, you may need help with electricity, water, and other utilities. We can legally provide that assistance.
- Communications. Cellphones and internet services can also be covered under Texas law if you are considering placing a baby for adoption in Texas.
- Groceries. We can provide a food allowance for you and any dependent children you have living with you. This does not include food for adults or non-dependent individuals living with you.
- Maternity clothing. You should be comfortable with a degree of style while you go through the final months of your pregnancy. There is also an allowance available for clothing shopping.
Medical Expenses
- Doctor’s visits
- Assistance with access to convenient hospitals for labor and delivery.
Legal Fees
- All costs associated with the adoption process
