After the Adoption

Support for Birth Mothers

after the adoption

As a birth mother, you have probably been so focused on the adoption and making sure the placement is correct that you have forgotten about what might happen after the adoption.

Your body has been through so much. You probably have had incredible mood swings comprised of:

  • joy,
  • sorrow,
  • anger,
  • anxiety,
  • confusion,
  • happiness, and
  • even guilt.

We will not leave you while all these hormones and emotions bubble to the surface. We understand the rollercoaster of emotions you may be going through. We’re here to support you—not just now, but for as long as you need us.

A Story of Renewal

Ongoing Support and Counseling

Placing your child for adoption doesn’t mean the feelings go away. Adoption will always be a part of your life, and that’s okay. It’s important to address these emotions and experiences as you move forward.

Our caring case managers are here to help. We provide counseling and emotional support to guide you through this time and help you plan your next steps. You don’t have to go through this alone.

Financial Assistance After Adoption

In many states, adoptive parents can provide financial support to birth mothers for a certain time after the baby is born. This support can help cover rent, groceries, medical bills, and other everyday expenses as you adjust and plan your next steps.

Here are examples of how financial help works in different states:

  • Idaho: Adoptive parents can help with reasonable maternity and post-birth costs, like rent and utilities. The total amount usually can’t go over $2,000 unless approved by a court.
  • Florida: Financial help may include living expenses such as rent, food, and transportation during pregnancy and up to six weeks after giving birth.
  • Texas: Adoptive parents can cover necessary expenses like medical and legal fees, plus living costs during pregnancy and for six weeks after birth.

Each state has its own rules about how much help is allowed and for how long. Our case managers will explain the options in your state and make sure you get the support you’re entitled to.

A Lifelong Commitment

At Heart to Heart, we don’t forget about the women we’ve helped. Every person who has worked with us holds a special place in our hearts. Our case managers will always be there for you—whether you need someone to talk to, help finding resources, or just a friendly voice to listen.
